Saturday MorningI was frying an egg for breakfast when Nanay came to the kitchen and told me to add another one for her.
'Kanya kanyang luto, cook you own egg' I snapped as I was trying to flip the poor egg.
Dammit! Nabasag ang pula!
Tatay came to the rescue, offered to cook for me. I like my eggs crispy on the sides but soft and tender on the center. This style has been mastered by Tatay.
I gave the tortured egg to Nanay and waited for the next batch coming.
As I was waiting by the table, Tatay saw my face; pouting, with eyebrows meeting in the middle. Which is, by the way, the default mode of this face of mine. Don't blame me, I'm the the smiling-face-type.
Tatay's palms reached my forehead as if he was trying to iron out my face.
'Anak, wag ka magpapakita sa biyenan mo na ganyan ang itsura mo, ha? Mabu-bwisit sa 'yo yun!' Talking like I already have one.
I immediately scanned the house to see any traces of Lola, but could not find any. But at the corner of my eye, I could see Nanay snickering.
These folks, they just love to bring the topic of my would-be-biyenan whenever they catch me helplessly handling domestic chores.
'Tay, ang hahanapin kong asawa e yung ulilang lubos, so I won't have to deal with in-laws.'
They just laughed. Why do they want to discuss biyenans when they (intentionally?) skip the topic of my would-be-husband?
SundayWent to my cousin's, Maria Ariana, baptism with Nanay.
We went straight to the reception venue since we left home too late to catch the baptism rights at the church.

I don't believe it too, but I am...
Now I'm getting worried that I'd get used to this.

There's just no escaping this damn song, John Mayer's voice is too cute to avoid. Please, no more mushy songs, I might choke to death anytime soon.
Dreaming With A Broken Heart
Artist: John Mayer
When you're dreamingwith a broken heart
The waking up is the hardest part
You roll outta bed and down on your knees
And for the moment you can hardly breathe
Wondering was she really here?
Is she standing in my room?
No she's not, 'cause she's gone, gone, gone, gone, gone....
When you're dreaming with a broken heart
The giving up is the hardest part
She takes you in with your crying eyes
Then all at once you have to say goodbye
Wondering could you stay my love?
Will you wake up by my side?
No she can't,
'cause she's gone, gone, gone, gone, gone....
Oooooooooohhhhhhhhh
Now do i have to fall asleep with roses in my hand
Do I have to fall asleep with roses in my hand?
Do I have to fall asleep with roses in my hand?
Do I have to fall asleep with roses in my hand?
Would you get them if i did?
No you won't, 'cause you're gone, gone, gone, gone, gone....
When you're dreaming with a broken heart
The waking up is the
hardest part
Now, Alanis and Avril are staying on top of the playlist while John continues to haunt me.
Stumbled on this...
I see that my happiness doesn't mean having you. My happiness comes from your happiness. And if you can be happy without me, then I can be happy without you.
Corrections

My using of initials had caused some confusions. This is with regards to the previous post about the two mothers. The D (whom I shall call DG from now on) mentioned there is not the same with the D who's had the funny feeling.
The two mothers' so-called-conflicts with their daughters are not the same with what DG is having with her own mother. For obvious reasons, I am not writing those so-called-conflicts here.

Saturday MorningLouraine asked me to take a picture of her because as she'll be using it for one of her projects in school. Notice the color of her eyes? I did not 'touch' any of it in post processing. Her eyes, when reflected with light, turns to color brown.
Saturday AfternoonNanay, Lola and I went to the Pink Sisters in Tagaytay to hear mass.
Sunday AfternoonWent to Neejo's 7th birthday party.
Sunday afternoon
"A son is a son till he takes him a wife, a daughter is a daughter all of her life."-From an Irish Saying -
On a table are two mothers with their two daughters. Over beer, the mothers are having a... well... sort-of-motherly conversation which goes
mama1 -- "kumusta na nga pala si D?
mama2 -- "oh! D has joined the (some activist movement).
mama1 -- surprised, very much surprised.. "ows? talaga? buti pumayag ang nanay nya?
mama2 -- "e yun ang gusto nya e.. bakit, ano na ba ang magagawa ng mga nanay kung may iba nang gusto ang mga anak?" grimacing, her pouty lips pointing to her daughter
mama1 -- agreeing completely "oo nga!" striking dagger looks over her own daughter
Moral of the story: Don't get yourself caught between conversing mothers specially when one of them is your own. Things get more complicated when there's beer involvled. When this happens, don't hesitate to look for the nearest exit.

Leaving BostonMy 3 month stint in the US has finally ended. I am going home!
Ian and I are travelling along, since Wil had already left a week ago to visit his cousins somewhere in Oregon. Ding drove us to the airport at around 4:30am, our flight is at 7:30am. At the baggage check-in counter, I panicked when I was told that my baggage had exceeded. I was about to leave the choloates behind (all 10 Kilos) when Ian offered to carry those for me. Bait bait naman.
While waiting for boarding, I saw a father and child tightly hugging each other, both of them in all tears. I suddenly remembered my sad parting with my sister, I never hugged her that way, for she might see me cry. It was like I was parting with her again, I was going back home, thousand miles away.. and I was leaving her behind.
My carry-on baggages. Ian and I was the last one to board the plane since he bought us coffee for breakfast. No liquids are aloud inside the plane, so I gulped all I can before taking off. I was lucky to have a window seat on our flight to LA.Our connecting flights, from LA to Manila, took 10 hours in between. Hindi naman kami pwedeng magtitigan na lang ni Ian for that long. So I asked Ed and Francis, our Pinoy officemates who are staying in Trend's LA office, to tour us around the city.
Our baggages while waiting for Francis and Ed to pick us up at LAX airport.Ed and Francis' gps. We're tracking the way to Universal Studios. Our lunch at In-N-Out Burger.Riccicutie strolling along Universal Studio's Citywalk."Papa Ed, bakit hindi mo ko hinintay??" Yeah, I really said it, to his face! Hehehe. Crush ko kasi si Ed during my early years in Trend, cute cute kasi, boyish, at mukhang harmless. Anyway, hands off na ko sa kanya, he recently got married. Awwww...After a leisurely walk, Ed and Francis took us to Trend's office in Pasadena. The office is smaller than the one we have in Libis. CEOs lang kasi pala yung nandun.
The employees in the Pasadena office enjoy gallons of ice creams every Friday. I wish we also have that in Libis.Ed, me and Francis at the Pasadena office. Our last stop was at Ed and Francis' appartment. While there, we watched an episode of Jewel in the Place and freshened up for our flight back home.

Jaimie Angelique's BaptismDays before the baptism, I received several calls from Owsi, making sure that I'd come ON TIME, since I am one of the Ninangs. Quick backtrack: I was one of the secondary sponsors on her wedding, I wasn't able to make it in the wedding march since I came 10 mins too late. Forgiven, yes, but not forgotten.
So there, learning from my past mistake, I arrived at the church an hour early.

BatangasTatay wanted to visit his plants, trees and veggies and several manoks in his home town, Tanauan, Batangas. So he asked Nanay (the family driver) to take him there. Since I was free that day, I came along.
Since Nanay and I could just not stay put withstanding the heat and the smell of the farm (yeah, maarte talaga kaming mag-nanay), we hied to the next town, which is Lipa.
We went to the Mount Carmel to hear mass first. While on our way, we noticed how clean the streets of Lipa are. No trash, scraps and litters, could be compared like the ones in Marikina. Later, we learned that the penalty for littering the streets is strictly implemented. 300 pesos if you get caught.
Mount Carmel against the dark clouds. Thankfully, it didn't rain. Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
