My left foot is hurting. Sprained, bruised and all.Wednesday morning, after bading Tatay goodbye, I got off hurriedly for work. It was my morning routine, except that on that fateful morning, I accidentaly tripped. I fell flat on my face! Well, my face is still intact, but I really fell! I knew it was coming, my left foot swayed frantically - like that of a lamed duck's. Next thing, I was trying to balance myself, but the weight of my bag on one side of my shoulders got me down. And there I was, laying on the road. The weird thing is that, my knees are both unscathed. What was wounded badly was the upper portion of my left foot, the part beside the ankle (I have taken anatomy wayback in college, but all the terms are forever gone in my brain's database). Both my palms have scratches (got it from saving my face from being smashed). Despite this, I'm still thankful that there was no moving car along when I fell, and there was no one passing, too, thus saving my face again for more embarassment.
Last night, my victimized left foot was hurting like hell, I thought I would not be able to walk again forever. I couldn't treat it with hot compress, since it has a wound on the surface. I asked my sister Louraine to get me a baby oil, since it hurts when I tried to peel the band aid off. No baby oil was found. Then I asked for the Betadine. Again, no Betadine. The last resort would be the alcohol, but I have a short tolerance for pain. This got me to missing Lola all the more. If Lola was around, necessary household supplies would never run out, and she'd know what to do with my ailing foot. So the poor wounded me just cried. Louraine was no help at all, she just laughed at me the whole time, especially when I was trying to balance myself, holding on to the walls of our house to get to my room. I asked Tatay to get me a stick that I could use as a cane. He handed me a bamboo stick a few minutes after.
This morning, I woke up to the sound of Tatay's voice "Chi, bangon na, nasa telepono ang Nanay". I got up carefully. Nanay sounded so happy. She is currently in staying in our relatives in San Francisco and will go to Missouri (my Aunt's (Nanay's youngest sister) where Lola and Jaene are staying) this Saturday. I told her about my sprained and wounded foot. She told me to go to Apo Linda, the trusted manghihilot and Lola's friend.
After talking with Nanay, I prepared for work. I was opting to having a day spent with doing nothing, since today is Saturday (read: weekend = relaxation). But anyway, overtime means more pay. As I logged on my PC at the office, Jaene popped up in YM. She was in invisible mode, as always. I lamented about my pain, about how unusual that my knees were not even wounded. She replied "wala kasing tuhod ang baboy, that's why" and another reply when I told her how hard it is to walk "dapat nilagyan mo ng ice agad baka mamaga yan tulad ng face mo hehehehe."
Haaay. My compassionate sisters.
